Project
Patti’s decision to install a WaterSmart landscape in 2023 was inspired by her love of nature and passion for living sustainably. Planting native species was the best way to make her yard more sustainable by saving water, while also “bringing nature home.”
With help from her son-in-law, they removed the grass from the front yard and replaced it with Cleveland Sage, Coast Buckwheat, Toyon, Matilija Poppy, California Poppy, and Apricot Mallow.
The new landscape also has natural swale which is fed by the house’s rain gutters. This ensures the landscape receive as much water as possible during each rain event.
